Overview

El propósito de la presente investigación es doble; por un lado arroja luz al conocimiento de los procesos de adaptación, producción y censura de las recreaciones (tele)fílmicas españolas basadas en una de las obras canónicas más célebres de la historia literaria hispana. Por otro, demuestra cómo la censura cinematográfica y televisiva, así como las presiones de los contextos sociopolíticos del segundo franquismo (1959-1975), la Transición hacia la democracia (1976-1983) y la era democrática (a partir de 1983), afectaron de manera directa la realización y la recepción crítica de las adaptaciones de César Fernández-Ardavín (1969), Juan Guerrero Zamora (1983) y Gerardo Vera (1996).Para comprender la influencia de dichos factores extracinematográficos y, en especial, el papel de los fluctuantes códigos represores en el proceso de adaptación, así como el sello estético-autorial de los propios directores, en esta investigación se realiza un análisis histórico-cultural de tales productos (tele)fílmicos, en base a sus expedientes de censura depositados en el Archivo General de la Administración (AGA), entrevistas a los creadores y reseñas tanto periodísticas como académicas. La investigación de campo realizada en el AGA y en la Biblioteca Nacional de España dio lugar al descubrimiento de expedientes de censura de tres guiones cinematográficos basados en "La Celestina". Estos corresponden al proyecto de Juan Guerrero Zamora de 1965, el de Luis Revenga de 1967 y el de Julio Diamante de 1979. Dicho descubrimiento permite solidificar la idea de que la censura cinematográfica y la televisiva, obviamente influenciadas por factores ideológicos, sociales y políticos, operaban con total impunidad movidas por la subjetividad e intereses particulares de cada censor.
